Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I have a Head Spa with short or no hair?
Yes - absolutely! Any hair type is welcome!
  • Can I have a Head Spa with hair extensions?
Unfortunately, I am unable to carry out Head Spa on anyone with hair extensions due to potentially causing damage or matting. It is advised you have a Head Spa in between fittings.
  • I'm pregnant, can I still have a Head Spa?
Due to the use of essential oils and the amount of time lying on your back during treatment, a Head Spa cannot be carried out on pregnant women. Would be great to have after your baby is born ( a good push gift!)
  • I suffer from psoriasis, is this is a suitable treatment?
Yes. A HeadSpa aims to help with any scalp condition such as psoriasis, dry/flaky scalp and alopecia.
  • Can I have a Head Spa if I am breastfeeding?
Yes but please make your therapist aware.
  • Can I have a Head Spa if I have recently coloured or highlighted my hair?
The short answer is yes but it should be avoided if it has recently been dyed as colour may be removed during treatment. It is best to give your hair a few washes first.
  • Can I bring a friend or children?
The aim of any Head Spa(ce) appointment is for you to relax as much as possible so it is preferred you come to your appointment alone.
  • I find it difficult to switch off during a treatment
The treatment room is upstairs in the salon. Every effort is made to keep the room as relaxing as possible. It's a busy world and some background outdoor noise cannot be avoided. Calming music will be playing throughout your treatment. We use eye masks and can provide ear plugs should you require them. To help your relax as much as possible, Emily will not talk during the treatment but please make her aware if you have any concerns or if something doesn't feel right.
  • Do you do couples treatments?
Unfortunately, not yet but hopefully in the future!
  • How often should I have a Head Spa treatment?
Depends on your scalp condition - healthy, normal scalps every 6 months, scalps with problems every 1-2 months.
  • Can I get my hair dried after treatment?
Hair can be blow dried and styled as an extra treatment by the Luvely Team otherwise your hair will be simply towel dried.
  • What is your Aftercare advice?
After a Head Spa treatment, your therapist will discuss a treatment plan following your scalp analysis. It is recommended to follow these steps: - Drink plenty of water after your Head Spa - Avoid caffeine and alcohol - Avoid physical exercise for 24 hours - rest up! - Delay washing your hair until for 2-3 days to allow the essential oils to absorb Any concerns or problems following your treatment, please do not hesitate to contact your therapist
